Estamated taxes

I just finished my taxes with Turbo... It is saying that I owe $4700. I have already paid $3600. I'm not sure why it is not calculating the paid amount??? I only made about $4000. more in2017 than 2016???

Did you make the $3600 payments via estimated taxes? If so, you need to enter those payments in the Estimates and other taxes paid section.

Did you make estimated tax payments?

If so, you could be entitled to a refund for those estimated tax payments.

Once your return is accepted and processed, you should file an amended return to get credit for those estimates.

Please see the link below for steps on how to amend your return.

How to amend my return?

Once you are in your return, you will enter those estimated tax payments made in the Federal interview section of TurboTax.

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Scroll down through All Tax Breaks and select Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  3. Select Estimated Tax Payments
  4. Select State estimated taxes for 2020 (or federal if you made federal estimates as well)
  5. Select Yes to indicate you did pay estimates for 2020
  6. Proceed to enter your payments as applicable
