EFile rejected because 2020 AGI does not match what IRS has.

The problem is I received a letter this January from the IRS saying they were crediting my tax account for 2020 with the payment I had sent in. HOWEVER, they say I didn't file a return so please do so, OR if you did file please forward a copy to them. Obviously they did receive my return because the check was attached to it! So I went ahead and sent them a copy but USPS lost it.  So I sent them another copy about 4 weeks ago. Evidently they haven't processed it and that's why the AGI problem. I tried entering 0 for the AGI amount (I had read that in some of the posts and it worked for some people) but it was rejected again. Is my only alternative to print and file? Or are there any work arounds to fix the AGI? I cringe at having to mail it... for obvious reasons.

Please see the below TurboTax help article for a list of potential reasons that returns get rejected due to the AGI and suggested solutions.

What if I entered the correct AGI and I'm still getting an e-file reject?

If none of the solutions help to resolve your issue, please comment back.

Because the second copy of my 2020 return was mailed to the IRS by certified mail I know they received it on 3/1. I'm assuming they have too much of a backlog to deal with it and consequently the AGI doesn't match when I try to Efile. I may just wait a week or two and try to efile again and see if the IRS has discovered my return and my AGI for 2020 will match. Otherwise I'll just have to print and mail (certified)!!

Just put in zero for the AGI for you and your spouse.  I did this after 5 attempts to efile and it worked
