The IRS will be sending you a notice in the mail which will explain what the IRS changed on your tax return that resulted in a lower tax refund. There will also be a procedure to use if you disagree with the IRS changes.
Are you also receiving a state tax refund? If so, the state refund is sent directly to you based on how you chose to receive the state tax refund.
