Due date - California affected county, IRS - not clear

Hi,

I live and am in the California disaster area. Both IRS, California FTB provided new due dates.

https://www.ftb.ca.gov/about-ftb/newsroom/news-releases/2023-03-ftb-california-winter-storm-tax-relief-extension.html

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-provides-tax-relief-for-victims-of-severe-winter-storms-flooding-landslides-and-mudslides-in-california

The above 2 articles say only the tax papers affected by these storms qualify for an extension.

It is not clear whether it is for all residents of the counties mentioned (or) only those affected in the counties mentioned.

Say, I live in the county stated in these links and I am NOT affected with mudslide or flooding or ...

What will be my due date? will the due date is April 18 or Oct 16, 2023?

Please advice.

1. Tax filing - due date

2. Payment - due date without fines

Regards

Thank you about the payment due date.

Pleas reply: So, Are you saying, even though I am not affected and since I live in that affected county , my tax filing due date is Oct 16, 2023?

I already have demand penalty from previous years. Hence I am asking specifically.

By the way, this link still says April 18: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-extension/need-file-extension-pers[product key removed]/L32Mt8ZNv_US_en_US?uid=lge1ivuv

Yes, to both questions.  Your tax return filing date and the taxes owed date are the same, October 16, 2023.

However, you can file and pay the taxes owed at any time before that date.  If you fail to file or fail to pay by that date then there will be penalties.

The payment extension date does not differentiate between those directly affected or the residents of the counties.

If you are a resident of one of the affected counties then your tax due date is October 16, 2023.

Can you please provide about payment due date also?

Thanks for the reply ...

The payment due date is the same.  You can pay any taxes owed on or before October 16, 2023.  Any payments after that date, there will be a failure to pay penalty.

@DoninGA : Thanks again, the link is posted in my original reply.  It was not clear for me whether it is for everyone in the county or only those affected in the county.

For others who see this post, as per @DoninGA ,

If you are doing individual tax filing and living in the counties listed in California affected areas,

Oct 16, 2023 is the date for tax filing and tax owing/payment due date, and this is for both IRS and CA FTB.

To clarify, it is for everyone i.e., all individuals living/reside in the county listed for California, even though you are not affected.
