Downloaded an TXF file successfully but TurboTax shows no institution name or account number for that data.

My TXF file is from Interactive Brokers. It imports all the data correctly and TurboTax is showing the correct numbers except the Institution and account number is blank and TurboTax shows "Need Info" YES. However I can't seem to enter the missing information. When I click the Edit button, it takes me to the transaction detail.

I spoke to a customer service rep today and she gave me a work-around for the desktop version (which you must have had to import the txf file):

  1. Go to the Investment Income section and Update the Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other section
  2. Select Edit for the institution you need to update
  3. At bottom of the window, select "Show Relevant Form"
  4. Manually enter the name in the Name of reporting financial institution line.

That worked for me. Best of luck!

TurboTax still complains that there is info missing.  Did this happen to you?  Did you ignore the warning?

This is old post, but commenting here for those w/ same problem in future.  I had the same thing happen with importing Interactive Brokers txf file for 2019 tax yr software.  Had to correct the financial institution name/account number as mentioned above, but also had to go into each individual transaction and set the "sale category" dropdown.  For me it was either "box A" for short term gain/loss, or "box D" for long term gain/loss.  For me this sales categorization did not import with the txf and had to be manually updated.  I was able to easily get each one from the paper 1099B from Interactive Brokers, but is strange it didn't import with the rest of the data.

Facing same issue (i.e. not automatically importing in the sales category info of each transaction during the import of the entire .txf file ) with both Interactive Brokers and TD Ameritrade .txf files. This seems like a bug with Turbo Tax.
