You must enter information from a 1099-MISC for 2016 on a 2016 tax return. You can't hold it until next year. You must upgrade to Self Employed to enter it on Schedule C when using the online product.

There is another free product called the Freedom Edition that you may be eligible to use if your income is around $31,000 or less. It will not be available for another weeks or so. IF I DO NOT HAVE MUCH IN EXPENSES SPENT ON THE 1 MONTH THAT I NEED THE 1099 FOR IS THAT EVEN WORTH DOING? UPGRADING TO AN $85 EDITION TO ENTER EXPENSES THAT WERE PROBABLEY ABOUT $100? NEW AT THIS AND JUST CONFUSED. WANT TO DO CORRECTLY.

You must include the income and enter the income on a Schedule C whether you had expenses or not. When using the online product, Schedule C is only available in the Self Employed version. You must pay self employment tax on the 1099-MISC income if it was more than $400. Check out the Freedom edition in my answer if you think you qualify for it. It is free.

Or you could buy and download any version of the CD/download product and install it on your computer. All of those versions have Schedule C.
