You have not mentioned whether you have any other income, or whether you will be filing jointly with a spouse.  If you will be filing a joint return then all of your combined income goes on the return.

There are several kinds of disability income--we do not know what you are receiving.   If your only income is Social Security disability you do not have to file a tax return unless you had tax withheld and need to seek a refund.

If you are receiving some other kind of disability benefits and have some other income, you might need to file:

It depends on the type, and the amount received.

  • If you are referring to Social Security disability, and you aren't filing using married filing separately, then it's unlikely you would be required to file.
  • If you are receiving a disability from your work and it is not workmen's compensation, then you may be required to file if you meet the filing requirement.
