For some unknown reason, line 33 of form 1040 shows form 8689 which is not needed. The amount shows zero, which is correct. How do i delete the entry in form 1040? BTW, there is no form 8689 in my list of forms.
This is preventing me from electronic filing. Not sure how this got there.
Thanks.
Dave
Please see the steps in this TurboTax FAQ for deleting a form: How do I delete a tax form in the TurboTax CD/Download software?
Can you please confirm if these are the steps you are following and are still unable to delete the form?
I had the same problem. Thank you to Pat @TurboTax I was able to correct the issue.
Go to the Form 1040 worksheet and scroll down to Schedule 3 - Part II.
On row 11E ("Credit for U.S. tax paid to Virgin Islands (Form 8689)" - delete the "0." value.
I was able to efile after removing that value.
I have the same problem. I cannot e-file because of an amount on line 33 of my 1040. Line 33 says 0 but does show a Form 8689. I have not filed a form 8689. How do I remove this from line 33 so that I can e-file my 2020 return?
Please follow the steps posted above if you need to delete a form. If you continue to have issues please see the link below to contact one of our TurboTax representatives:
I am having the same issue. Foorm 1116 (Copy1): Line 33 should be blank. Line 33 is blank but won't let me eletionically file my federal form.
Also, when trying to file my taxes, Turbo Tax is requiring me to pay a fee. I paid for a fee free federal return.
If you're using TurboTax Online, in the left-side menu, go to Tax Tools > Tools, then choose Delete a Form from the pop-up menu.
When the list of forms is displayed, look for Form 1116 and click on Delete at the far right.
