Chose to pay tax bill electronically, but Turbo Tax still asked me to mail 1040-V voucher

If I've already chosen to pay electronically and entered my account, why did I still get the 1040-V at the end of the process? Should I complete it and mail it or can I ignore it?

According to Turbox Tax website:  "But you would only have to file a Form 1040-V if you're sending a check or money order to the IRS to pay your income tax bill. If you choose to pay your bill electronically or with cash, you will not need to complete this form."

There's a place to check that you don't need the vouchers, but no worries, the key thing is that you paid your taxes, right?!

You can ignore it if you have scheduled an automatic payment.   The form automatically prints, but you can toss it if you don't need it.

@Spino I haven't, just finished the online process  1 hour ago, and at the end it reminded me to print two forms and mail it to IRS.

One is 1040 v and the other is change of address (cuz I moved to a new place last year).

I though tha tax payment would be automatic, but not sure where to check the progress

@Spino BTW where exactly do I check whether I need the voucher?

@DawnC Is there somewhere I can go to double check that the auto e-payment is scheduled? Got lost in the dashboard :(

The best place to pay the IRS electronically is always https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay

That way you have a receipt directly from the IRS, guaranteeing that you have indeed made the payment as intended.

And that's my opinion! I would never pay through any third party, no matter how easy they make it....

Of course, if you've already done so using TT, the TT expert has directed you to where you can find those details.

You need the voucher if you haven't already made the payment. You should keep a receipt that shows you've made the payment one way or another. This could include a cancelled check or a credit card entry clearly showing you have paid the IRS.
