Yes, but you can't copy and paste, you have to manually type it in.
Yes, I was unpleasantly surprised that copy/paste doesn't work in that field.

asked: "Can you use your activation key from amazon for TurboTax online?"
No, a license activation code is ONLY for desktop software (CD/download). It cannot be used for Online TurboTax. Desktop software and Online TurboTax are 2 different products and not interchangeable.
If you bought desktop software, it also has more features than Online TurboTax, including the ability to prepare multiple returns and Forms Mode for viewing/printing/editing forms during return preparation.
Thanks for the feedback.
That's infuriating. Actually, the feature I need is online only (per the desktop version help). So now I have to go back and do the whole exercise a second time. Really upset with TurboTax on this, that should be crystal clear or better yet you should have the option of using either / both tools once you pay for one.

Just curious what the feature is that is requiring you to use Online TurboTax.
If you bought desktop software and end up using Online TurboTax instead, you can get a refund for the desktop software. If Amazon won't refund it, TurboTax should refund it for 2 reasons--you can't use the product and desktop software has a 60-day unconditional moneyback satisfaction guarantee. TurboTax should refund a desktop product even if purchased elsewhere.
