Can't enter 1099-G state/local info

I itemized my deductions last year (I did not file on turbotax). I got a 1099-G for a 2019 state/local refund. I am not itemizing this year. When I go to enter in the info from the 1099-G I get a message that "You have already entered amounts for this state or locality." Except I don't see this information anywhere...can anyone help figure out what is going on here?

Thanks!

Yes, see How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?  You said that you entered the information. The program should have asked if you itemized last year. Since you itemized, that refund is needed on your return. Schedule 1, line 1 should show your state refund.

If something is not right, here is How to Delete  a form.

Thanks, Amy. It did not ask if I had itemized and it won’t let me update the information at all—per the original error I posted.

When I go to delete I don’t see a 1099-G there—is there another form it could be under?

Do you see "State Tax Refund Worksheet line 14" or even "State and Local Income Tax Refund Worksheet"? Is it possible the 1099-G went in the wrong place?  Double check where you entered your form. That could be the trick! Here are the most common:

Federal, state, or local governments file this form if they made payments of:

  • Unemployment compensation.
  • State or local income tax refunds, credits, or offsets.
  • Reemployment trade adjustment assistance (RTAA) payments.
  • Taxable grants.
  • Agricultural payments.

They also file this form if they received payments on a Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) loan.
