Many Windows programs can be installed using the wine compatibility layer. See here: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=623 for installing Turbo Tax on Linux with wine (note the caveats).
With Turbotax 2020 ending support for Windows 7, that means the end of my relationship with Intuit. Neither Windows 10 nor Mac is an option, and I know for a fact that the online offering is not for me. Linux (or even one of the BSDs) would be an acceptable solution for me.
Forced changes suck, so I think I will use my frustration in having to make this change as fuel to raise awareness of the Intuit's lobby efforts that prevent the IRS from offering a completely free tax filing solution, precluding the need for Turbotax and its ilk.
Did anyone try to install TurboTax2020 under Windows 10 guest in KVM on Fedora Core host, or in a similar KVM configuration on Linux host? I am getting a crash of TurboTax on the first splashscreen when it reaches 100%.
I copied the CD into ISO image. The same worked for the in the past in VirtualBox on a Linux host. I am forced to upgrade Windows due to new higher Windows version requirement.
I will be very unhappy if I cannot run Windows in the virtual machine. Thank you
Thank you.
