If you haven't submitted your return for e-file yet, open TurboTax and search for stimulus, and select the jump to stimulus link at the top of the search results to return back to the section. Enter your updated info and Continue.

If you've submitted your return for e-file and:

  • Your e-filed return is rejected, you'll be able to go back into TurboTax and make any changes related to the Recovery Rebate Credit.
  • Your e-filed return is accepted, you can't make changes to your original return.  But... when you receive the refund for your original return, you'll be able to figure out whether the amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit that you actually received as part of your refund was based on what you entered on your return, or not.  It's possible that the IRS will already have made the correction during processing, and adjusted your refund accordingly.  If that's the case, the IRS will send you a notice telling you they've made the correction, and you won't need to amend your original return.

If you do need to amend your return, please see the TurboTax Help article How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed for instruction on how to amend your previously-filed tax return.

The IRS requires you to report all relevant stimulus information when you’re filing your return.
