If Box 2 on your Form W-2 is empty, it means that federal taxes were not withheld from your paychecks.

It may be that you inadvertently indicated that your were exempt from withholding on the Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Certificate Allowance, that you submitted to your employer shortly after you started your job, or perhaps you claimed a large number of allowances. Use the W-4 Withholding Calculator to ensure you have adequate taxes withheld from your paychecks in 2016.

Note: If you believe that you did have federal taxes withheld from your wages, you should contact your employer and request a corrected W-2 before you file your tax return.
