Being asked to pay Intuit twice

Hi, here's exactly what happened.

I prepared my taxes with TurboTax Online, as I have done in previous years, except stopped right after verifying my return is accurate and ready to be filed. I did not pay.

I then downloaded and installed TurboTax Deluxe on my desktop.

I attached a Deluxe license to my Intuit account.

TurboTax made it clear federal file and 1st state file are free, an additional state is 40$.

I selected in the TurboTax Desktop version to import my Online tax return.

Since I am filing for 2 states, I was asked to enter my payment info and was charged $40 to my payment account, confirmed on my phone's payment account app.

TurboTax downloaded the 2 state return forms, restarted, I got to where you file a return and am being asked a 2nd time for my payment info to be charged another $40.

I changed nothing on my imported return.

When you purchased the TurboTax Deluxe desktop CD/Download edition, one Free state program download was included in the purchase price.  The state e-file is an additional charge that is currently $20 for each state tax return e-filed.  Since you have two state tax returns to e-file the charge would be $40.

To avoid the state e-file fee the state return can be printed and mailed.

The state e-file charge when using the TurboTax desktop editions has been in effect for at least the past twenty years.  In 2004 the charge was $14.95 for the 2003 state return e-file.
