Amend the estimated tax paid didn't modify the line 38 of form 1040 on TurboTax 2021 Premier

I've just filed my federal tax with TurboTax 2021. However, I just realized that my estimated tax (paid in 2021) wasn't reported. Then, if I file an amend with the same TurboTax 2021 software, it just told me to get a refund of that same amount I paid, but it didn't modify the line 38 of form 1040 (I previously owed some tax and hence I need to pay interest to IRS). This is unexpected and seems to be a bug in TurboTax.

If I just open my original return and input the same amount of estimated tax paid, it will reduce the number in line 38.

Is it a bug in TurboTax 2021 Premier?

Just so I'm understanding your question, you submitted your tax return and it was accepted and then rejected? Now you are trying to amend the same tax return to add the tax that was not originally reported?

Yes, you’re mostly correct except that my original tax return was accepted by IRS (without rejection). But I still want to amend to get back what I’ve paid before.

 Thanks,

 Ming.
