Having gone thru three support persons, one of whom was drunk. I still have no answer. Everytime that the software is updated it asks me to activate it again, why is that?
Why is my 2019 TurboTax now asks me for activation? I bought that last year from WalMart online and I do not have the code any longer. It started asking for an activation code after I installed the 2020 version.

I tried the link in your reply and it just goes back to the 4 methods, one of which it tells me not to use if I'm not an expert PC tech. the other 3 I've tried and still prompts me for activation code and says I've already installed on 5
These are the most ridiculous answers ever given in the link. If AV/AM/FW were the cause it would also give a problem when working in Turbotax software and clicking Help to go to your website which does with no problem or even inquiring on a question within the form.
Just to test your argument, disabled AV/AM/FW same as before.
Why would a reboot of the Modem have anything to do with this problem? your software is not the only software installed on my machine none others need rebooting!!??
Why would I need to use IPConfig or even change my DNS settings. Every time the machine is turned off both above acts takes place automatically.
The same problem occurs if I use three different providers, my regular home ISP, use my phone Hotspot from a totally different provider, and my business ISP at my office totally different from the other two.
What other solutions do you have?

I have contacted Support, three times. Here is what I told
First time: The same thing as the article, the guy even admitted that he was just reading what it was given to him to read and had no other solution
2nd time right after the first time: The lady just said it must be your computer, remove the install and reinstall again!
3rd time the next day: Even though I told him about the previous two encounters, he just repeated the same thing as the first one.
So does TurboTax really know what the solution is as it does not look that we are the only two people having this issue?

I found a solution that works. I do not however want to post it here as I am curious if TurboTax is even going to reply and find a solution. Let me know if want to know and I will send you the solution

The link goes to [Link address removed] however, the same email address and password which I use to login to the Turbotax site does not work. Resetting password and after 23 minutes no email to reset the password, and no it is not in the junk folder.
So how do I access this help document and why is it being hosted at lithium.com when so many people who have purchased Turbotax and have this problem instead of Turbotax.com?

the solution is:
Go to the folder where you saved your tax return. If you use Windows and choose all default values then it is in the Documents folder, in the TurboTax folder.
Just double click the return, it bypasses the screen where it asks you to enter the key again, it also doe no update. Once you are almost done with your return, then on top of the screen of the application where it indicates: File Edit View Tool Online
click Online and select "Check for update" and update your software. This step also bypasses the requirement to enter your key again.
I am having the issue where turbotax asks for activation key even though I have previously activated and used the program. All on same computer. Solution? Thanks.

Corrections sent to me do not work. They check for updates and then restart asking for the activation code that says all activations are used up. I need the activations reset to zero
Are you opening your application or going to C:/Documents/Turbotax/your return and opening that?
My solution only works if you open the return and NOT the application.
You can call Turbotax support number, they are the only ones who can resolve your five attempted used licenses that is if they answer and if they answer talk to someone who actually can understand their accent
When I have called and do not understand what they say because of their accent I tell them to transfer me to US though most just disconnect and I have to call again and again.

Really!!!!?? this is your answer that one is entering the code wrong. Have you even read what customers are complaining about, do you really understand what we are saying!!!????
I am having the same problem. I have TurboTax 2018, 2019 and 2020 all on the same computer. And none of them are loaded on any other computer, even though licensed to be.
I have completed and filed tax returns in each of those years' Turbo Tax systems on my computer.
I was working on an amended return from 2019, though, and when I went to launch the program again after exiting it days ago, it said to click the link to update, which I did.
After it finished updating it asked for my activation code and won't let me passed that screen.
I entered the activation code more than a year ago and have never had problem accessing it until now. But I can't find the activation code anywhere now.
When I paid for the software it had no expiration date and no warning that once activated it would require me to locate and reenter the activation code if I ever needed to file an amended return in the future.
And I frankly have never had this issue come up with ANY software I have ever purchased in my life, including tax software, and including tax software from H&R Block or from TurboTax. Is this the penalty for being dumb enough to be continuing customers and buying TurboTax's 2020 tax software is that we are now locked out of the 2019 TurboTax software that thinks we've got more than one software program and are somehow trying to circumvent licensing agreements or something???
Why can't I just launch the 2019 software that I paid for, loaded on my computer, already entered the activation code for and have used to file returns already that I'm just trying to relaunch?
And why does TurboTax want me to purchase other company's software instead in the future, apparently?
Any help would be appreciated. There is no way I am repurchasing Turbo Tax just to get a new activation code for the thing I already purchased!!!
The Activation License Code was new starting last year for 2019 returns. Make sure your computer is the same way when you originally installed it. Like with no flash drives plugged in or plugged in if one was. Even a printer plugged in or not. It asked me again so I just closed the program and took out a flash drive that was plugged in and tried again. It worked.

Sorry this isn't a solution ... but I am 100% in the same boat as what you described. (in case they think this is just a one-off problem). I have TT installed on desktop and laptop and exact same issue exists (after applying their ill-advised update).
It's as if the powers that be at Turbotax want you to explore other software suppliers.
My 2020 Turbo Tax Premier is asking for authorization code. When entered error message states all available activations for that code have been used. I attempted the 'back way' to open the file and it wants me to enter activation code. Why is this happening and how do I obtain access to my file?
