1099-MISC I am awaiting two of these. Can I estimate them as I have not received them yet?Jeff

I am also an independent contractor for several companies and state agencies but have not received their 1099's, and likely wont until April

Being self-employed, you are required to keep accurate business records of all your expenses and income, even if you don't get 1099-MISC forms.  Theoretically, you should be able to file a tax returns without the 1099 forms because you already know what they will say.

(The only reason you would be required to wait for them is if you have inadequate records, or you are waiting to see if any of your income doesn't get 1099'd so you can leave it off the tax return and cheat on your taxes.)

When youre an independent contractor (self employed person) you should be keeping track of all the money you've earned, then you don't need to wait for any 1099s, you've already got the income figured out.

Did you keep track at all?  If not, you really need to wait for those forms.  If you report less income than what's reported on them, the IRS will send a letter/bill in the next 18 months wanting more money.

Businesses are required to submit the 1099MISC for subcontractors to the IRS by Jan 31, 2018.  Not sure why they would wait for April to send them to you.
