How do I find my license code for TurboTax Desktop?

Your license code is a 16-character combination of letters and numbers (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) that verifies the software and allows you to finish installing and begin using TurboTax.

Where you'll find it depends on how you purchased TurboTax. Find your situation below for more info.

From an authorized retailer

Your license code should be included in your order confirmation email if purchased on a retailer's website, or within the package if purchased in-store. Check your email or your order history. If it’s not there, please contact TurboTax Customer Support.

From the TurboTax website

On your order confirmation screen
In your email confirmation
In your Downloads folder:
1. Sign into your Intuit account.
2. Under TurboTax Desktop 2024, select Licenses and downloads.
3. Look for your license code under the TurboTax product name.
4. Return to the install screen and enter the code to continue.

From TurboTax Advantage

In your notification email
In your Downloads folder:
1. Sign into your Intuit account.
2. Select Downloads and look for your license code under the TurboTax product name.
3. Return to the install screen and enter the code to continue.
