Writing check for charity

Charity needed kids clothes for christmas. I bought clothes at store, used my credit card. How do I value the donation in turbo tax. I have a written receipt form the charity. I am very confused on how to value it..

if you donated shortly after purchasing and there was no personal use the value would be what you paid.

for the method of valuation use replacement cost new, describe as new clothing

You will value the donation for the amount you paid for the clothes (or the receipt that the charity gave you for its value).  Just be sure to keep both receipts of proof.

To import your donations:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the search box, search for donations and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you make any donations to charity?
  4. On the next screen, answer Yes to Do you have an account with ItsDeductible Online?
  5. Your donations will automatically load as long as you're using the same account for both ItsDeductible and TurboTax. On the next screen, select which donations you want to import and select Import Now.
  6. Select Continue and review your charities on the next screen.

If you make changes to ItsDeductible and want to import again, start again at step 2.

To manually enter your donations:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the search box, search for donations and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes when asked Did you make any donations to charity in 2023?
  4. Answer Yes to Do you want to enter your donations for 2023?
  5. Follow the instructions to enter your donations.
