How do I enter my 2023 charitable donations in TurboTax?
by TurboTax•2005• Updated 6 months ago
You can deduct charitable donations if you make them to qualified organizations and you itemize your deductions.
To itemize, you need to:
- Keep track of what you contributed to charity during the year
- Maintain supporting documentation, such as receipts
That might sound like a lot of recordkeeping, but it can pay off if your total itemized deductions are higher than the standard deduction.
For tax year 2023, the standard deduction is:
- Single taxpayers: $13,850
- Married taxpayers filing a joint return: $27,700
- Heads of household: $20,800
To get started, enter your donations into TurboTax.
