You can use the steps below to either remove, or edit your child care expenses.

To Delete Form 2441(Child and Dependent Care Credit):

1. Go to "My Account" in the top right corner

2. Select "Tools"

3. Under "Tools Center" select "Delete a Form"

4. Navigate to "Form 2441" and select "Delete" next to it

To Edit a Childcare Provider in TurboTax Online:

1. Go to "Federal Taxes" at the top of the screen

2. Select "Deductions & Credits"

3. Scroll down to "You and Your Family" and select "Show More"

4. Select "Revisit" next to "Child and Dependent Care Credit"

5. Select "Yes" to "Did you pay for child or dependent care in 2016?"(Answering no is another way to delete)

6. Select "Edit" next to the provider you would like to change

If you have not already filed your return you can log back into your return and follow these steps:

1. Log into your return

2. Click pick up where I left off

3. On the left side of the screen click Tax Tools

4. Click Tools

5. Click Delete forms

6. Scroll until you see the form that needs to be deleted (Form 2441)

7. Click delete

To edit the child care expenses, do a Search (upper right) for child care expenses and click on the jump-to link (Mac users must look for child care expenses in the Topics List).

This will start the Child and Dependent Care Credit interview, during which you can see and edit the child care expenses.

If you want to just delete everything on this subject instead, then do the following:

*** Desktop***

1. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select form 2441. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 2441.

Tried to delete form multiple times on my MacBook version, Should be straight forward. It always shows up to fix during final federal smart check, I have no provider nor expenses. Boing in circles . Any thoughts on a workaround? Thank you.

I am having the same exact issue. I deleted the form but then it shows up during check and won't let me file.

@Derek_H07, @dwca2020, after deleting the form, log out and then clear your browser's cache and cookies; if the issue still persists, try using a different browser altogether and see what happens.

it is not letting me to delete the child care expenses in either way. I deleted the form and log out, tried another browser and still is the problem.

Try the following steps instead.

Go into the federal section of the program.

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Select Child & Dependent Care Credit
  3. You will see a question asking Did you pay for child or dependent care in 2020?  Select No.
  4. This will remove the credit from being generated on your return.

It doesnt show this questions. It shows "do you want to review your child and dependent care credit information?" and then I click yes; next it asks you about if you are a full student or disabled, and then you click no, and then it brings you back to the initial screen with the credit and deductions, including the child care credit. When you try to file, it asks you to add the name of the child care provider and other information.

It appears you may not have any earned income entered.  You will need to enter a "Fake" W2 in order to get access to the childcare credit interview questions.

In the "Wages & Income" tab select "Job (W2)" and put in a fake employer with any 9 digit number for the federal ID. Put in an amount in box 1 wages.

Then you should be able to get into the "Credit for Childcare" topic and delete the entries there.  After deleting the child and dependent care entries go back and delete the "fake" W2 entries.
