You can create a new W-4 for the employer that is not withholding taxes in TurboTax.

If you want to prepare W-4 for tax withholding go to::

In the black banner on the left side

  1. Select Tax Tools
  2. Select Tools below it
  3. There will be a pop-up with 4 green boxes
  4. Select Topic Search
  5. Type in W-4

This will bring you to the starting point to create a W-4.

You will have to pay the TurboTax fee to be able to print it.

You will be able to file your return later.

You should give the form to your employer that isn't withholding taxes.

does tax exemption request only last for one tax year?

Yes; you would need to update your W-4 form each year to indicate you are tax exempt, which I imagine you can do on that same self-service site.

You can use the W-4 to declare yourself exempt from withholding, which means that your employer would not withhold any of your income to your federal income tax. You can claim an exemption from withholding if you had no income tax liability in the prior year and don't expect to have a tax liability in the current year.

The W-4 only tells what the employer to withhold for taxes.  If you put exempt on your tax return and you owe taxes at the end of the year, you will still have to pay the tax.  Also, if they are withholding taxes and at the end of the year, but you have no tax liability, you will get a refund of those taxes.

How do I update my 2022 withholdings and print a new W-4?
