I am getting excess contribution message. Where do I indicate that my HSA account is family HSA?

An HSA is an individual account even though it can be used to cover qualified medical expenses of family members.

To establish your eligibility to make an HSA contribution you must complete the HSA section in TurboTax (Deductions & Contributions -> Medical -> 1099-SA, HSA, MSA).  If the owner of the HSA had family HDHP coverage, that's what you'll indicate when TurboTax asks what type of HDHP coverage the owner had.

Please call me on my cell phone [phone number removed] regarding HSA accounts - same school/workplace, same plan and yet the amount that we used for medical expenses from the account which last year appeared as a deduction this year (amount withheld listed as income and amount used for medical appears as a deduction).

Why is this so?

Putting in a request here will not result in your getting a call back.  You will need to initiate the contact on the phone or give more details regarding your question.

Take a look at the following TurboTax article for information about how to contact us by phone:   What is the TurboTax phone number?
