In TurboTax, you can change (rename) the display name of your tax file by using the 'Save As' command under the 'File' menu. The dialogue box opens and you can edit the name to however you want it displayed. You are done.

2nd option- In Windows, you can locate your tax return file on your computer, right-click on the file, and choose 'Rename' to retitle a tax return. The next time you open TurboTax, you will search (Find a Tax File) for the new file name to open the retitled return.

This does not seem to work for 2022 version of Turbotax. Is there a change to how to rename an unfiled (but saved) return? I am trying to do a "what if" version of my return for planning for 2022 taxes.
Both of the methods provided by DawnC0 still work in TurboTax 2021 for Windows. If you are unable to rename the file by following either of those steps, please reach out to TurboTax Customer Support and request to speak to a tech support agent who can assist with this issue.
