How can I request a w-2 from a company I no longer work for?

Just ask them.  Do they have your right address?  Did you move?   They have until the end of January to get it to you.

If you have the same question as Larry-Bird0, then read VolvoGirl's answer above.

 

If you worked for a company as an employee at any time in 2019, then they are required to send you the W-2, even if you don't work for them any longer.

 

Call their HR department - they will not be surprised at the request.

 Here's some things you can do:

  • Ask your employer when they mailed out their W-2s. Employers should mail the W-2s by January 31st
  • Did your employer mail your W-2 to an old address? If so, ask them to re-send it to the new one.
  • See if you can import your W-2.
