Do I not receive a tax credit for my wife?

When you file married filing jointly, you receive a personal exemption for yourself and your wife and for any dependents you may have listed.  You never claim a wife as a dependent, she is a joint filer.

Unless you file married filing separate.  Then you only get your own exemption and she gets her own exemption.

no you do not you can not claim someone your married
