Do Gambling Loses Reduce AGI?

Hello,

For Tax Year 2019, if I enter gambling loses, does that reduce my AGI? I understand that the loss becomes a deduction but how does it impact my AGI. I assume not, but is this any different for Tax Year 2020?

Thank you.

Gambling winnings are taxable income.  Losses are an itemized deduction.  If you do not have enough itemized deductions to exceed your standard deduction, your losses will have no effect.
