We do not know why. We cannot see your information. Are you asking about getting the child tax credit on your 2020 return that you filed in 2021 or are you asking why you did not receive those advance monthly payments between July and December of 2021?
If you did not receive the advance payments you can still get the full amount on your 2021 tax return now if you are claiming your children as dependents on your 2021 return.
Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number. If your child was born in 2021make sure you said he lived with you the whole year. There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. Say NO to that question.
Look on line 28 of your 2021 Form 1040 to see your child tax credit.

Asking for my 2021 refund. I received a letter from the irs & I wasn’t completely sure if it had been included bc I never received one throughout the year but they deducted a large portion from my initial refund amount.
@kadetria Please explain clearly. Are you saying that you received letter 6419 that says you received monthly CTC payments but that you did NOT receive any of those payments?
