Can someone here tell me where is FORM 8915 B at for 2020????????

Am in need of this form so that I can file my taxes!! I have had to WAIT FOR THIS FORM FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS!!! When will this form be available to file? It's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that the IRS and Turbotax can't get their act together on these forms!

Have used this form for 2018 and 2019 and need the 2020 for the final year of this form! Was SO STUPID for not paying the entire tax back in 2018 rather than divide it up over three years! I seem to have to wait for this form EVERY YEAR which is RIDICULOUS!

Form 8915-B, Qualified 2017 Disaster Retirement Plan Distribution & Repayments (Taxpayer) is scheduled to be released on 02/18/2021.

Shouldn't this already be included on the website? It doesn't even take me to this form at this point.

The IRS still has the 2020 Form 8915-B in DRAFT status and has not yet finalized it .  Until the form is finalized by the IRS, this form cannot be included in the TurboTax program.  You will not be able to proceed until the form is available.

Additionally, once the form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations.

The IRS has not communicated when the form will be finalized for inclusion on the 2020 federal tax return.

We estimate it will be sometime in February 2021 before the form is available.  You can watch this link for the form availability.

IRS forms availability table for TurboTax individual (personal) tax

The IRS will not start processing returns until February 12, so waiting for this form is not slowing down the processing of your return.

The IRS should be required to have ALL forms and documents ready for people to file their taxes and to PREVENT people from waiting months to file! The IRS is a joke!

Although it doesn't help you receive your 2020 tax refund, for future years you can avoid dependencies on timely availability of forms from the IRS by managing your tax withholding throughout the year so that you have only a small refund or balance due, making irrelevant such delays in your ability to file.  This puts you in control.

I still show the form 8915-B for 2020 reporting as not available as of 3/27/21.  Have you heard or see anything yet?  I too did the three years and need to file the last 1/3 to be done with this disaster withdrawal.  I wish I had just lumped it all in 2018's return and taken the tax hit as this is beyond frustrating!  It is nearly April and I still cannot file my taxes.  Is anyone at Turbo Tax even addressing this?

It’s absolutely ridiculous because I can’t file for a divorce until my taxes are filed!! Am in a really bad situation because of this delay!

Unfortunately this isn't a "TurboTax" issue as the IRS still has not yet finalized this form we all need for 2020.  This has happened for both prior years too so I'm glad this is the LAST year I have to worry about it.  The IRS in both the prior 2 years have released the final approved copy of the 8915B Form at the last possible moment...And TurboTax then has to incorporate it into their program before we will even see it.  I would guess that we won't see it until probably late April or even early May now that the IRS has extended the filing deadline until May 17th this year.  Lastly...The thing that REALLY sucks is you cannot E-File if you are having to file the 8915B...So plan on yet even LONGER delays on a refund (assuming you're getting one) because you have to file the old fashion way with mailing a paper copy....Then wait for the IRS to actually process it.

The 8915-B is scheduled for 4/8 and e-file is not supported because the IRS has not supplied the e-file "schema" because of the low usage of this form.

I’ll be surprised if it is released on 4/8. It’s been delayed time after time again. Pathetic

The IRS has delayed releasing the final version  of the form.   The paper form was finally released on 3/9 and the electronic versions is usually about 4 week later so 4/8 is reasonable.

This whole fiasco has been a major inconvenience in the lives of American tax payers but I’m sure the IRS really doesn’t care.

Fortunately this is the LAST year we will have to worry about this form!!!  I can hardly wait until next year when I can go back to E-filing!!!

Thank god! I knew I should have just paid all the tax the first year vs doing it over three years! Never again!

Unfortunately the IRS is very underfunded and lacks personal so they only write e-file specifications that require programing the IRS e-file system and tax providers system, testing each one for compatibility and authorizing the changes, is very labor intensive.     They do not do that for little used forms.

Thanks for the info but I’ve completely DROPPED TurboTax and went with another tax provider who had the forms ready a lot longer than this company had! Good riddance TT!

This morning (4/9/2021) Turbo Tax form availability site is showing 2020 form 8915B as "available".   Through yesterday the date continued to change since I purchased 2020 TT in January with 4/8/2021 as the most recent scheduled date.  However, my actual TT filing is still showing "ready soon".   These are conflicting indicators FROM  Turbo Tax.   It's not really available if I can't complete my actual taxes!   What's up?????

If you are using the desktop software then update the program.   The form was in the 4/8 update.

The 8915-B is part of the 1099-R interview.  It will appear if you say you had a disaster in 2020.

Here is an IRS link about natural disaster relief

And an IRS video for victims of natural disasters.
