Can I deduct property taxes on an inherited home?

I inherited a house during probate March of 2016 and I paid the 2015 property taxes that were due after the deed was transfered to my name March of 2016.

Can I claim the 2015 property taxes I paid in 2016 even though I didn't own the house in 2015?

Yes, you can deduct the property tax because you owned the home at the time you pay the tax. And you can deduct the tax in the year you paid it, which is 2016, no matter what year the property tax applies to.

Hello,

How are you?  Can someone let me know where to enter the property tax information for my inherited house?

To claim the property tax paid on your inherited house

Go to Federal

Deductions and Credits

Property (Real Estate) Taxes.
