7202 form available elsewhere

Why do all other tax softwares offer efile for the 7202 form now but not turbotax?? I don't understand. H&R also offers a higher refund than you as well. I dont know what I'm doing wrong here.

It is possible that other software allowed the user to attach a PDF to the e-filed tax return.  TurboTax does not allow that for your personal tax returns.

If other software is showing a different refund, then either (a) you entered something differently in one of them and/or (b) one of them as an error in the programming.

I'm really hoping TT catches up and makes it available for efile. Regardless of another company getting a higher refund amount and having that form available for efile, I want to file TT. I have been using this company for the past 8 years and would hate to go somewhere else. I'm just afraid to file via paper due to this situation this going on. Not only that, if I file via paper, I can't get a refund advance. I'll stick it out to Feb 11th and pray they add it into the software if not I don't have a choice really. I mean I do but my main concern is not being able to efile.

You will be able to e-file. I agree with you on waiting until the 11th and hoping for the best! We are, too!

Wendy, are you stating that TurboTax is adding the ability to attach a PDF (they have have had that ability before)?  Because the form itself it not e-file-able; it can only be filed by attaching a PDF (or by mailing it with your mailed tax return).

I keep reading so many answers to this question.

So, we will eventually be able to e-file and get the 7202 credit added?

If so, I will happily wait, but just like others, I do not want to mail my entire taxes to the IRS. Even the IRS doesn't want us to mail it.

The only way to get it e-filed is to attach a PDF of the form to the e-file.

In all prior years, the personal versions of TurboTax has NOT been able to attach a PDF.  I have not seen anything that indicated they are adding that ability to this year.

I have no idea but I am willing to wait until the 11th of February which is when it says paper form is available. Assuming it will be available in paper form, they will somehow work their way into integrating it into their software. I'm just going to wait before I jump into another company. I won't mail my return in. That will take way longer to process and its sad because most of us can't wait for someone to physically handle our returns. We all need our money.

When this happens it is usually some field that is difficult to find on your own. It is better to delete the problem entry and then use the interview process to put the information back inL

To resolve this issue:

  1. Go to Deductions and Credits
  2. Find the entry for your home mortgage 1098 and use the wastebasket to the right to delete it.
  3. Then enter the 1098 information again.
  4. Now run review and the issue should be gone.

It 2/12 and still no option to attached or file electronically. I too woudl hate to jump ship with TT but they are making this filing very difficult especially since all other competitors allow this option.
