Two months ago, I e-filed my federal return. For reasons I don't understand, I couldn't e-file my state return. Why?

I have subsequently sent the return to the state TWICE, and they have received neither. I would like to see if it's possible to get a mail waiver and permission to e-file. That's the only way I can be certain they get the darn thing! BTW, They owe ME money!

One reason that you may not have been able to e-file your state return is that the federal return must first be "accepted" by the IRS before the state can be e-filed.  Only you know the e-filing status of your federal return.  Has it been accepted?  Check the status of your e-filed federal return here .

If your federal return has been accepted, follow the instructions I'm linking below to e-file your state return.  Please post back if you continue to have difficulty.

How do I e-file my state after I already filed my federal?
