Total State Credits and Payments

hi,

Turbotax calculated Total State Credits and Payments of $[100].

The State sent a letter asking for copies of "Income Tax Witheld from W-2s and 1099s".

When I add up the sum of my wife and my income tax witheld from W-2s, I see $[80].

I need to be able to send supporting documentation. How can I find how Turbotax calculated the $[100] ?

When you Download or Print your return with all Worksheets, look for the Tax Payments Worksheet in your State Return.

Also check your state's main state filing form, as your state may have given you an additional credit of $20.

hi @MarilynG1,

I don't see that worksheet for Colorado. We are filing "part-year" for Colorado. I do see that sheet for Illinois.

The worksheets for Colorado are: Subtractions from Income Schedule, Part-Year Resident Calculation, Other Modifications to Federal Taxable Income

Specifically for Colorado do you have a recommendation for finding breakdown of tax withholdings?

If you paid W2 withholding taxes or any estimated income taxes to Colorado, you should see a tax payment worksheet. At this point, we would suggest that you  contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you to see where this error may have occurred
