NYS accepting tax filing

New York will probably start accepting tax returns today. But there's a big backlog of tax returns that all the software companies have been holding for the last few weeks, so it might take a day or two for them to work through the backlog.

Thank you but i have a question. My NYS state tax was received on 1/22 but it is still pending. I assumed that since it was received then my state taxes would be accepted by today.

Your assumption was not correct. Today is the earliest day that your New York tax return could possibly be accepted, but that doesn't mean that it definitely will be accepted today. Because of the backlog it could take another day or two.
