NYS accepting tax filing

Hello,

I would to know when NYS will start accepting tax filing. They received my efile on 1/22 but it is still pending. I assume when IRS open its season then NYS will open at the same time.

New York will probably start accepting tax returns today. But there's a big backlog of tax returns that all the software companies have been holding for the last few weeks, so it might take a day or two for them to work through the backlog.

Your assumption was not correct. Today is the earliest day that your New York tax return could possibly be accepted, but that doesn't mean that it definitely will be accepted today. Because of the backlog it could take another day or two.
