I live in Texas, do I need to enter total state and local rate?

I’m super confused by this and don’t remember doing this before when filing my taxes. Do I need to enter combined total state and local rate of taxes for my return if I work and live in Texas? It’s asking me to do so.

If you are itemizing deductions and want to use sales tax as a deduction you can enter the sales tax rate.   If you are not itemizing then it will not make a difference.

If you are trying to enter the sales tax rate, enter the combined total. For example, The City of Houston has a 1.0 percent rate, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County has a 1.0 percent rate, leading to an overall rate of 8.25 percent for the city.

Thank you! I’m not actually sure if I am itemizing my deductions, but the app is claiming I need to enter it. So I was just trying to make sure.

@eddyjimu Please see answers in your other post.  (This thread is about the state sales tax deduction on your Federal personal tax return.)
