I have a question about a out of state dvd purchase

How does a out of state purchase work on a dvd? It was for 1 dvd They didn’t charge sales taxes when I bought it I tried reporting it on my state taxes this year but because I accidentally didn’t have federal withheld I would only get state back which is 5 dollars after I get the dollar taken out of my state refund. I live in Alabama and they would only charge one dollar for the out of state purchase. I tried filing taxes 9 times every time got rejected. I even went to Jackson Hewitt and they said I didn’t have to file taxes this year because I’m not getting anything from federal and state I’m only getting 5 dollars back after they deduct the dollar for the out of state purchase. So should I put the out state purchase on next years taxes instead? And I got it fixed so federal is withheld on my checks now.

If you have been given advice by someone who looked at your tax documents and you are not required to file a tax return because your income is below the minimum limit for filing, then do not worry about the DVD that was purchased out of state without sales tax.  If you are not required to file, then you do not have to file the Use Tax either.

Take a look at the following TurboTax article to learn more about the minimum filing requirements:

Do I need to file a federal return this year?

If you do need to file a return and you need help with the reject code you are seeing, feel free to ask another question.
