Forgot to sign IL state tax form!

I am a new resident of IL and at the time of filing I didn't have an IL license(you need one to e-file) so I had to mail it. WELL, that was 6 weeks ago and I just realized I was supposed to sign it! When I try to look it up it still says it hasn't been received yet. From what I've read, they are supposed to mail me something to sign and return but I haven't gotten anything.

I have since gotten an IL license so I would be able to e-file now. Should I just keep waiting to hear something or can I e-file? How long do I need to wait?

Do not e-file your Illinois return.  You will just have to wait for them to process it.  Six weeks is not a long time when it comes to paper returns filed by mail.  If you get close to the April 15 filing deadline and you still have not received anything, I recommend that file an Illinois extension (electronically or by mail) just to be safe.  The status you saw saying it has not been received really means that they haven't entered it into the system.  Since most returns are filed electronically, there aren't many resources dedicated to processing paper returns.
