Filing my state of NE taxes. I’m getting an error, “Form PTC: Part B Parcel ID Number The Parcel ID Number must be 9 digits.” The ID is 10 digits. Can this be updated?

The state rejected my return when I inputted 9 digits, leaving off the leading 0

Yes. If your return is getting rejected due to the state identification number, use the federal ID number in Box b of your W-2.

It’s not the state ID number.. It is my parcel ID for the Nebraska Property Tax Incentive Act Credit Computation (Form PTC). The turbo tax app incorrectly says this ID is 9 digits (it’s 10) and won’t let me e-file when inputting the full 10 digit number.

Try going back into Nebraska again and re-enter your number. If you are getting the issue on the app, try logging in through a browser window at https://turbotax.intuit.com/.

 

TurboTax Online gave me an error message saying it needs a 10 digit property tax number so TurboTax knows it's a 10-digit number.

Same problem. Turbotax knows it should be 10 for certain counties based on prefix #. Turbotax would only let my state efile go thru if I left the "0" off the beginning of the parcel #. So, I e-filed it with 9 digits and NE rejected it. This is the message I got from Turbotax why it was rejected: "
What happened

FPTC-0016 - If NECountyNum (line 4b) equals 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 48, 49, 50, 51, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 59, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 75, 76, 78, 79, 80, 81, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 90, 91 or 92 then ParcelNum (line 4c) must be 10 digits.

 

I'm in county # 93. So Turbotax's rule for that county is it should be 9 digits. It will only let me submit the e-file with 9 digits. The rule needs to be updated for county 93 to be added into the list as a 10 digit # also. This would allow the turbotax software to allow 10 digits that way Nebraska will accept my state return. 

 

Turbotax - update the rule an add county 93 into the 10 digit rule and this should fix my problem. Might also want to check other counties too???

For sure! Hopefully someone from TurboTax is checking on this. Not like we paid $20 to efile and it's the softwares issue why it won't let it go thru. A refund should be in order if I have to type everything in NEBFILE  or paper file the return.

My Parcel ID is 9 digits, and turbo tax is telling me it is supposed to be 10 digits.  My ID already has a 0 at the beginning of it .... Hmmm... I am in sarpy county (#59) .... im not sure really what to do. I am going to submit/file them and see what happens.

They rejected mine and I ended up mailing mine in because I never heard anything back from turbo tax. Hopefully yours works!

I'm still holding out for an update from TurboTax. Nebraska is so slow at processing paper returns. I probably should just paper file and ask for a refund from TurboTax because it doesn't seem like they are too quick to fix it.

I'm in county 59 and have a 9 digit parcel ID number, but the turbotax form is incorrectly requesting a 10 digit number.  Can this be updated/fixed?

Check here for parcel numbers for Madison County (County 59). After a quick search on the parcel webpage, the first digit is consistently 0, which would make it a 10 digit number.

I'm in Sarpy County Nebraska.  And my pacel ID first digit is a zero, but if I add another zero in front of it it invalidates the parcel number.  Needs to be 9 digits.

Please check the County Parcel ID Search for Sarpy County, Nebraska.

I'm also in Sarpy county (# 77) and have a 9-digit parcel number. TT is telling me it is invalid and needs to be 10 digits. This appears to be erroneous and should be updated in TT to allow parcel numbers in Sarpy county to be 9 digits.

I'm having the same problem but filing from Lancaster and it's supposed to be ten digits -- my property tax id is shown as 13 digits with three 0's on the end.  I've tried it with all 13 digits and with just 10 -- the three 0's left off, but TT considers it an error and won't let me e-file.  I've tried numerous messages to the "Digital Assistant" but to no avail.  I've printed and can mail my return, but feel like I've paid to be able to e-file -- and of course can find no way to contact TT directly.

I followed the directions to contact TT directly and after a couple of references to topics that did not provide answers, I was told that I would receive a phone call within 5 minutes.  Never got the call .... maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Hello fellow frustrated Nebraskan.  I just ran into this problem as well. I kept double-checking the Parcel ID number.  It is correct and has the correct number of digits according to NE.  But is was not accepted by turbotax.  So, I added zeros before my ID number "00-00-XXX-XXX-XXX."  All I can tell you is that turbotax accepted the new number.  Hopefully Nebraska will accept it too.  My fingers are crossed.  Good luck to you.

So, I'm Washington Country (29 on license plates) but according to the NE DMV I'm county 89.  Look up the actual county number at: https://revenue.nebraska.gov/about/county-parcel-id-search.  This fixed my issue.

County #59 is NOT Madison County; it's Sarpy County in Nebraska

The Nebraska Property Look-up Tool lists the counties in alphabetical order and they are numbered in alphabetical order. For instance, Adams County is number 01, Lancaster County is number 55. 

 

TurboTax is simply following what the Nebraska Dept of Revune has used for county numbers.  You are likely referring to the county numbers the Dept of Motor Vehicles assigned as county numbers, which most of us are familiar with.

I am currently attempting to e-fil for me 2022 taxes, but i'm stuck. PTC is asking for a 10 digit parcel number. I live in Lancaster County Nebraska and my  parcel number consists of 13 digits xx-xx-xxx-xxx-xxx. Confirmed the numbers with the treasurer and assessors office. Turbo Tax please fix this issue!
