Do I have to file a Tennessee return?

I know there is no state tax in Tennessee, but TurboTax is trying to charge me $40 for that. I only moved there in 2015, too. I just want to make sure that I don't have to file some form that says I haven't earned more than x amount on dividends/stocks/etc.

A person who moved into or out of Tennessee during the year and whose taxable interest and dividend income during the period of Tennessee residency exceeded $1,250 ($2,500 if married filing jointly) is required to file a TN "Hall tax" return.

If you did not have that much interest & dividend income, there is no form to submit. Just don't activate (and pay for) the TN program.

Only the taxable income received during the period of legal domicile in Tennessee is required to be reported on the return. Income received during the period of legal domicile in another state may be reported on Schedule B on the back of the return, but is not taxed.

This tax does not apply to the first $1,250 of income reported on each individual return or the first $2,500 of joint income reported on a jointly filed return. - See more at: https://www.tn.gov/revenue/article/hall-income-tax-exemptions-and-deductions#sthash.u3sloWdh.dpuf

I wouldn't pay TurboTax $40. The form is simple enough to do by hand or at the web site

Side note: In 2018, the Hall income tax rate is  3%. 2019, it'll be 2%, By 2020, just 1%. And beginning on Jan. 1, 2021, it'll be completely phased out, allowing residents to keep all of their interest and dividend income.

Turbotax says I don't need to file TN state tax. But clearly I need to do Hall portion since I have more than 1250 in dividends. Where do I fill that in TT if I'm willing to pay?
