Turbo Tax Premier allows for 5 Federal and 1 State return. I also file for my Mother, what is the addition cost to downland another State return. We live in the same state and I realize there are additional costs to e-file on both state returns.
If your mother is in the same state that you are in, you do not need to download the state program again. You already have it. You can use that program as many times as you need to. It is only if you needed a second different state that you would have to pay more. With desktop software there is always a state e-file fee. If you e-file a state return before March 1, the fee is $20; on March 1 it goes up to $25 to e-file the state. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state.

A change from prior years (except NY)
1) $20 state e-file is only if you signed up for TurboTax advantage program, which automatically charges you for the download program every year (usually in November)....automatic purchase!
2) $25 to e-file state if you just purchased a single Desktop copy, and not thru the "Advantage" program.
I don't see that March figures into it anymore...details don't indicate a March price increase...but maybe it's even more hidden in the squint print than usual.
