Anyone else stuck at California Reject Code F3853-010 in FreeFile?

The error:

What happened
F3853-010 - If Form 3853 Part II Line 1 (IncomeBelowFilingThreshold) is checked, then Part III (CoverageExemptionClaimed) must not be present.

What needs to be done:
There is an internal processing error with your return. This issue is resolved in a product release scheduled for February 18, 2021. Please update your software on or after 02/18/2021 (for web products this will happen automatically) and run a final review of your state return. If prompted, clear any errors by making the appropriate change and re-submit this return electronically. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

It is the 18th, I went through the fix procedure (several times), they say it is fixed, but they still include the empty Part III page. Seems useless to file again.

Maybe the fix is delayed? No way to know if the 18th was a guess or reality...

I doubt this could be a browser issue, but it does seem odd that Chromium DevTools showed over 500 errors with uBlock and ClearURLs active. Disabled them and now I'm down to two:

vendors~appInitializer.js:1 onApplicationReady: Failed to navigate to path : Error: route not found : {"path":"/unified/2020/index?uid=64903429&version=623&fepath=%2Ffe%2Fty20prod&pyAmend=false&csrc=[phone number removed]&swimlane=uswest2&alias=ty20prod&currentTaxYear=2020&ffa=true"}

The web app looks just like before, only much slower.

You may have to log out of the program, clear your cache and cookies, and log back in. Please see the TurboTax FAQ here for instructions on clearing your cache. See here for instructions on clearing your cookies. You may also try using another browser or using the phone app here if the above does not work. If none of these resolve the issue, contact customer support here for further assistance.

None of that makes any difference. You still include the prohibited Part III. I even downloaded the phone app, which said in the App Store that it did free filing. Installed, logged in, it said it did not, sent me to the web site. Same exact failure in Safari, no chance of any cookies or cache problems. The "Feb 18 fix" has clearly not fixed this issue.

I think I'll wait a month or so before investing frustrating hours on phone support - maybe the techies will notice the fail...  I sure miss the old "Insider" program where we could interact with tech people online!

mine is deluxe but CA reject code prevents me from filing too.  Did anyone file after Feb26 and was not rejected?

If you are using TurboTax for desktop, you may need to run a manual update to resolve the error. Please see Manually Update TurboTax for Windows Software (Basic, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business) for instructions.

If you continue to have issues, please reach out to TurboTax Customer Support: What is the TurboTax phone number?

Filed with Deluxe ONLINE Turbotax yesterday, Mar6 and it went thru.  I guess they have updated.

I went again thru everything in CA state and reselected months without health insurance and resubmitted.

it got accepted already today by CA.

I tried the "fix" again, stepped through the medical sections, the program said everything was good, but the Part III form is still there. I begin to think the error message just picks a date for the supposed update a few days from whenever you retry. Maybe they update something, but my problem is still not fixed.

In the computer version it would be easy to edit the Smart Worksheet. Online and free, I don't see any way to access individual forms. There are no entries in Part III anyway, except my automatically entered name at the top.

What needs to be done:
Option 1: If Form 3853 Part II Line 1 is checked, then remove all entries in Part III Request Exemptions Smart Worksheet and retransmit. Option 2: We will have an update to this issue on March 12, 2021. At that time or after, please update to the latest software and run a final review of your state return. If prompted, clear any errors by making the appropriate change and re-submit this return electronically.

So it is April 18 (but CA returns are not due until May 17 this year...)

Turbo Online still says a fix will be out March 12. I just went through the whole data entry and attempted filing process again, and it still includes the forbidden Part III.

But I dug up the CA Instructions

https://www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/2020/2020-3853-draft.pdf

and it makes clear that I'm not even required to file, my income is under the threshold.

I wonder why Intuit drug me through this whole fiasco...  They had all the numbers!

So I guess I'll just stop right here. At least they did my Federal return...
