2020 CA DE-4 form Worksheet C Item 1: only my income or mine plus my spouses?

I am filing this form and per its suggestion, want to submit only one for my wife (who works) and myself. For Item 1, should I only include my gross income or both of us?

If the income of both of us is needed, does it mean for line 13, I have to combine how much is deducted from the pay stub of both of us?

If this is just my income, then I am more confused. It seems that unlike W4, this form does not care about our joint income.

You are correct this form is for one employer and the income from that employer only.  The line 1 amount for worksheet C is only the wages from that single employer.  The idea is to produce one form that accounts for all allowances; this is usually for the employer providing the largest income.  The other forms for the other job or spouse's job will have zero allowances and thus max withholding for those incomes.

Line 13 will therefore only be the estimated withholding for that employer.

Additionally, for line 8 on the worksheet you would be using the table titled "Single Persons, Dual Income Married or Married with Multiple Employers."
