Fed 1065 no errors, IL 1065 has error/warning

Fed 1065 complete with no errors. IL review gives me the following

Form IL-1065 p2: Line 35 total of all occurrences of Sche B Step 2 Col E must equal the result of Form 1l-1065 Step 5 line 35 plus Form IL-1065 step 5 Line 26 and Form IL-1065 Stemp 5 Line 27 minus Form Il-1065 Step 4 line 21. One possible reason is that dollar allocations on the K-1 Worksheet do not transfer from the federal return.

First, it seems silly that it would do that, second, how do I figure out what it is and where to put it in the state return?

I am off by $50,000. The only amount match I have is 401k contribution (but I realize that may not be it)

I have called TurboTax, after 45 minutes they sent me a link to the IRS page concerning the 1065, no help there, any suggestions?

For TurboTax Business State return assistance, you should contact Support via the link below.

I truly appreciate the reply, however, I have had two lengthy calls 1) After about 45 minutes they sent me a link to the IRS webpage about 1065 and 2) after about 30 minutes I was told it was a known error in the program and there would be an update the 17th that would correct it (there wasn't) both reps were very nice, but I didn't have the impression they knew any more about TurboTax than I.  How do I get someone that actually knows the software?

Knows the software AND knows something about IL-1065; the combination of the two is somewhat difficult. I imagine you can only continue to try Support and request someone with knowledge of the Business edition AND the Illinois state partnership module.

bradwill, Have you resolved this problem yet? I have met the same problem and I believe that the IL-1065 Schedule B has a bug. If you look at the Forms, the number shown in the Section B Column E of Schedule B does not follow Fed instructions at https://www2.illinois.gov/rev/forms/incometax/Documents/currentyear/business/partnership/IL-1065-INSTR.pdf In page 19 of the instructions, you can see a Column E Worksheet. This worksheet tells us that the first step is to enter the share of income from Form IL-1065, or Form IL-1120-ST, Line 14 for this partner or shareholder. This means that it will not include in the worksheet the retirement (401k or traditional IRA) dollars in Line 11 of Form IL-1065 (or form IL-1065 p1). Therefore if TurboTax result has included the retirement dollars in Line 11, or anything between Line 7 and Line 13, of Form IL-1065 (or form IL-1065 p1), the TurboTax software must have started with entering the share of income from Form IL-1065, or Form IL-1120-ST, Line 7 for this partner or shareholder. I figured this out after I found that the difference between the wrong and right results is exactly equal to my traditional IRA number in Line 11 of the form IL-1065 p1. I tried to contact TurboTax support by phone and by Twitter today. So far I have not received any response yet.
