A 1099 reports income received.  A 1099-R is one type of 1099.   A 1099-R represent retirement income.   Where do I enter a 1099-R?.   There are many other types of 1099s.   Some examples:

1099-NEC - self-employment

1099-MISC - miscellaneous

1099-R - retirement

1099-SA - health savings accounts

1099-B - investments

1099-G - government payments

and several others...

There is no plain Form 1099. All 1099 forms have one or more letters after the 1099. There are about 20 different kinds, for different kinds of income. DawnC has listed some of the more common ones above.
