Schedule D is including Short Term Sales Box A with Long Term Sales Part D

Hello,

I had to manually enter all of my 1099-B Sales which include short and long term sales. Importing created too many errors and I was told to manually type in the 1099-B amounts. One half are funds I purchased, and the other is inherited. I have two lines of short term inherited sales. Schedule D is not listing those amounts separately on Part 1, line 1b for Box A. They are included with my long term sales on Part II, line 8b for Box D. TurboTax automatically included a "Capital Gains and Losses Adjustment worksheet" for one of the lines but not the other.

I am so confused on what step to take next. I should have all of my short term together and all my long term together but TT seems to have selectively lumped some short term with long term sales.

Help / Advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

The Box Category determines ST vs LT, not the dates.

any ST transactions you see on line 8 must be erroneously assigned to Box D.

The sales section title determines short term and long term and whether reported to the IRS.  There are six choices A through F that you see on IRS Schedule 8949 here.

Select Continue and you may also correct the holding period at the screen Let us know if any of these situations apply.  Check I need to correct the holding period reported on my 1099-B.

I think (but not sure) that inherited shares get treated as long term.

Nice @VolvoGirl

I missed that word "inherited".
