My husband & I are filing separately to help lower my student loan payment. Our income is from W2s & a 1099R. Should I add a community property subtraction adjustment?

We don't own any property and didn't earn any other income. I've never filed separately so perhaps I don't even need to add any community property income adjustment.

Yes, you need to fill out the community property worksheet for the two tax returns to coincide as needed. See Married Filing Separately in community property states.
