No---a W-2 is not required.   If you transferred your information in from 2023 and an old employer transferred in, the software will ask for your W-2.  You can delete the old employer.  And tell the software you do not have any W-2's

Enter your retirement income:

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

Please look to see if there is a W-2 in your forms, perhaps one was carried over from a previous year.

If listed, delete it.

HERE are the steps to view and delete forms using TurboTax Online.

Desktop users switch to FORMS.
