I am trying to enter my social security number and it is not active or greyed out

...make sure you go back to the MyInfo section to edit it.   

Don't try to edit it directly on some form, or in the Review or Error check sections.

If you are properly attempting to edit yourself in that section already...log out of TTX and come back in and try again.
